German Airlines tests VR technology. Passengers wear helmets to see the ground landscape.
Lufthansa recently tested new technology on its flight, using VR glasses to provide passengers with a VR experience. On flights to Dubai, Lufthansa offers the VR Moving Map experience to users, and testing techniques are feasible.
VR Moving Map will allow passengers to wear VR glasses, they can see 3D landscape images on the surface, and even enter the 360-degree virtual world, immerse them in and complete the trip.
When the plane flies over Vienna, passengers can sit on the Prater Ferris wheel in a virtual way, and even participate in a Viennese classical concert in a virtual way. The prototype equipment was developed by Lufthansa in cooperation with 3spin.
Lufthansa only tested the VR Moving Map on the Airbus 330 aircraft from Frankfurt to Dubai and has not yet promoted it.
3spin executive Thomas Hoger said: "Looking at the window, I often think: Where am I? What is underneath... Our vision was born out of this. In order to let passengers know the world below, we and the Lufthansa Customer Experience Team Developed VR Moving Map."
Lufthansa passenger experience designer Paul Sch?n said: "VR is gradually becoming popular in the destination experience. When passengers fly in the sky, we want to bring them this experience. On the plane from Frankfurt to Dubai, we are the first The new VR prototype was tested to enhance the passenger experience. From the feedback from the participants, the VR trial was very successful."
Previously, Lufthansa had tested the VR experience on the ground. Now through the flight test, let users watch the 30-minute VR content, Lufthansa can know what the passenger likes and collect information.
Passengers who enjoy the VR experience on the plane believe that in the existing flight entertainment experience, adding VR will have great results. In the future, Lufthansa will continue to test other VR/AR applications and then evaluate the results with relevant parties to see what prototypes should be developed.
