ARM new architecture A76 exposure
We know that whether Apple A series chips, Qualcomm Snapdragon chips, Samsung Exynos chips or MediaTek, or even Kirin chips, are essentially based on the core technology provided by ARM or authorized. In other words, ARM is at the top of the mobile phone processor industry.
Earlier today, the network was exposed on the Cortex-A76, the latest ARM processor architecture. The current high-performance CPU architecture of ARM is the Cortex-A75, so the Cortex-A76 is actually the next generation of high-performance architecture.
The new Cortex-A76 official presupposes that the highest frequency is 3.0Ghz, and with the new process of the future, it can achieve 35% performance improvement and 40% energy efficiency improvement (compared with the previous generation architecture A75). In addition, in the GeekBench 4 run of Android players, the integer IPC of the Cortex-A76 architecture is increased by 25%, the floating point is increased by 35%, the memory bandwidth is increased by 90%, and the AI performance is increased by 3.9 times.
Judging from the current gap between the A75 architecture and the Apple A11, the performance of the A76 architecture chip is not small, but the A12 that is trying to catch up in the second half of the year is undoubtedly a fantasy, but it is at least close to the A11.
In addition, the launch of the Cortex-A76 architecture is not only for smartphones. Rene Haas, president of ARM's IP division, revealed that one of the missions of the Cortex-A76 architecture is to bring a more high-performance and long-lived experience to Windows laptops.
As early as the end of last year at the Qualcomm Technology Summit, Qualcomm had already announced that it would team up with Microsoft to build ARM-Windows devices, and ARM certainly played a role behind it. Believe that with the strong promotion of Microsoft and ARM, not only the so-called Qualcomm Windows computers, but also the Samsung Exynos computers or MediaTek Helio computers may appear in the future.
The arrival of the Cortex-A76 architecture has the greatest impact on Hassell Kirin. Because in the current market's flagship chip camp, only Hassin Kirin basically follows the public version of ARM's architecture (MediaTek has not made a flagship SoC). However, the upcoming Qilin 980 in the second half of the year is unlikely to be the first to launch this architecture. Next year's Kirin 990's first Cortex-A76 architecture is more likely.
